End of the Road: Internship Closing Post

Well, this is it.

The time has come for me to say goodbye to my time at Poor Bear for the summer. In about just two weeks, I must return to Savannah for my senior year of studying film and television production at SCAD.

So far, I have contributed to a wide array of projects, ranging from event photography at Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s Operation EPIC and video resume editing at their SFO2 college-to-career conference to a thorough day of film production for the music video of “Toxic Relationship”, where I operated the FS7 camera as well as assisted in designing and preparing the set we used for filming.

Among other things, I also worked on a spec ad for Frog Fuel, assembled some clips for a highlight reel based on Ray Smith’s Purple Heart ceremony, and took screencaps for Poor Bear’s social media accounts.

Things took a turn, however, when I got wrecked with COVID in my second-to-last week, which forced me to miss out on a princess photo shoot. It certainly wasn’t fun at all. Now that I’ve recovered, I am closing out this internship in my final week by filming my video resume.

However, this certainly isn’t the last time that I would collaborate with Jacob, as I am open to possibly returning in the future for more projects, such as a proposed docu-series in partnership with SOCOM based on various families of wounded and fallen special operations soldiers and how SOCOM cares for them.

Lastly, I will never forget the experience I had with Jacob and Poor Bear, which was a life-changing, busy, and fun experience, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will boost my strength as I pursue a career in filmmaking. This opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Jacob and Poor Bear, as well as Barbara Secor from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, in addition to Becki Chambers and the Special Operations Fund for providing the support and resources to make this dream come true. I would love to thank everyone who made this internship possible for giving me the opportunity to further support my goals and my family’s, especially my dad, SFC Marcus V. Muralles’ hopes of me being successful in the working world.
