This July Poor Bear Stories found ourselves on the space coast alongside Operator Solutions telling a story we are humbled to be a part of.
U.S. Air Force Pararescue Specialists (PJs) along with real estate entrepreneur, astronaut, and philanthropist Larry Connor, are preparing for a world-record jump attempt from 35,000 ft out of a hot air balloon this September/October in Roswell, New Mexico.
It’s evident to see the sheer amount of planning that goes in to an endeavor like The Alpha 5 Project, a testament to Operator Solutions and CEO Brandon Daughtery, a former Pararescue Specialists himself.
The Alpha 5 Project will honor fallen special operators by using the feat to help raise awareness and $1 million in donations for the non-profit, Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF), headquartered in Tampa, FL.
SOWF honors fallen Special Operations personnel by providing educational assistance for their children.
This is where Poor Bear Stories founder and creative director, Jacob Centeno, comes in. As a SOWF scholarship recipient, Jacob has made it a major objective at Poor Bear Stories to raise awareness and serve the foundation in more ways than one. This week, that service included both photo and video coverage to help Tampa Bay 10 get the story out.
“I arrived onsite the first day of filming at 3:30 AM, just in time to prepare the LZ for the team’s helo arrival. Three hours later, I was hanging out of that same helo watching the Alpha 5 Team jump from two hot air balloons. It was quite a rush.”
Three days of practice jumps later, the Poor Bear Stories team had more than enough interviews and event coverage for Tampa 10 to produce their big story.
We think it went pretty well.
