Why Video Matter in Cyber and IT (MMM#24)

Hello all!
Madeline with entry number 24 in The Movie Minute. For this entry’s topic, we’ll be diving into why video is a must-have to promote the brand of your company, especially in the cybersecurity and IT space.
Video has been a dominant form of storytelling for decades, and continues to be so today. Whether it’s a blockbuster movie, a commercial on TV, or even a short-form clip on YouTube or Instagram. More and more companies are using video across different platforms to promote their brand to many audiences, ranging from business partners to potential employees, clients, and beyond.

But why video? It provides an effective and engaging way to deliver the message of your company, whether inside or outside. It’s estimated that well over half of potential clients are more engaged by a company through the use of video than through any other medium. And when compared to typical white papers with more verbose and technical jargon, video as a visual medium is more appealing to potential clients, especially as it can show what a business can offer rather than telling it, through the use of testimonials, demonstrations, visual representation, etc.

Of course, it’s important to know that a video has to be made in a way that will be appealing and engaging to potential audiences. Even with the rise of AI-generated content, crafting a high-quality video that will have success with audiences requires time and dedication. Whether it be a short 1-minute social media reel or a longer highlight video, it’s crucial that the video is refined as much as possible if you want to be the most effective at drawing in potential clients.

Now, how does video benefit the cyber and IT spaces specifically? As industries that continue to grow more and more, both benefit extensively from using video to spread their message, whether it be to attract potential employees, showcase and market your product, or even a behind-the-scenes clip. It also provides numerous opportunities to show that your business is the best of the best. For example, many corporate videos often have testimonials from employees and clients. In addition, it challenges companies to spread their message in a way that can be taken in simply and quickly, as a long and wordy white paper can be overwhelming for some. Training videos can be beneficial for employees to deliver new skills and knowledge in a way that keeps them engaged as well. While providing them with a paper document or even a slide show might not be as effective, a quick and powerful video that shows different skills, technologies, etc. can be far more efficient at educating and training employees with the best knowledge.

To sum up, video is a powerful tool that brings new opportunities to promote your message, inside and outside. As it continues to grow as the dominant form of communication, the cyber and IT spaces must adapt and take video to their advantage in order to have powerful messaging to connect with not only potential clients, but future employees and business partners as well.
That’s all for this entry in The Movie Minute. Wishing you all the best, and see y’all in 2! -Madeline
